This blog chronicles my experiences as an artist.
I received my BFA degree from Bethel University in 1996 with a concentration on on studio painting. The education was valuable but I found it was too broad for the level of realism I wanted to pursue in my art. I studied alone for years, muddling through and making an effort until I discovered The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis in 2006. The patient and precise input of teachers like Brian Lewis and Dale Redpath have been key to my growing confidence in painting and drawing.
I share a home with my husband, our daughter and two cats. Being a parent and a painter is a juggling act. I’m grateful to have an involved spouse who is equally dedicated to maintaining family and supporting my art-making habits.
